Zeitler cord blowing machines at CFT

An empty conduit is only worth something if you can get into it: Zeitler’s machines drive a cord through the conduit with compressed air – and the cord is followed by the cable, the pull wire or the traceable sonde. From the short service connection to the long route, this is the calmest way to prove and use a conduit.

The Zeitler range

The EZ range is graduated by conduit dimension and route length; add special and traceable cords, blowing aids such as parachutes, lubri balls, beads and the shuttle, plus nozzles, adapters and wear parts. Which combination fills your conduits depends on dimension, length and bends – exactly what the call before the order settles.

What these machines are used for

Traceable cords are the little brother of line location: a blown-in traceable cord makes a plastic conduit findable from the surface. The group’s crews use this route when nothing else leads into the pipe – which is why we know which cord actually arrives at which length.

Introduction and training

Every machine bought from us comes with an introduction: pressure, nozzle choice, parachute size and the hand movements that get the cord around the third bend too.

Service, repair and calibration

We do not hold a manufacturer’s repair authorisation for Zeitler. Without one we do not open an instrument – not even one you bought from us. Call us: we will tell you where it belongs and handle the arrangements with the manufacturer.

Frequently asked questions

How far does a blown-in cord get?

That depends on dimension, length, bends and conduit condition – under good conditions it is many hundreds of metres. Name us your route, and we tell you whether it can be proved in one go.

Does it also work in a partly occupied conduit?

Often yes, with the right blowing aids – the shuttle snakes past existing cables. Completely full conduits stay full though; we say that honestly beforehand.

What does a traceable cord add over a normal one?

It carries a metallic conductor: afterwards the plastic conduit can be followed from the surface with ordinary line location – an invisible pipe becomes a traceable one.
