SPRINGBOK time domain reflectometers at CFT
A time domain reflectometer – TDR for short – answers the first question of every cable fault search: how far is it to the fault? SPRINGBOK builds two instruments for exactly this, the TRACKER PRO and the TRACKER STD. Which of the two fits your measuring task, we settle with you before the purchase.

SPRINGBOK product families
- Time domain reflectometers TRACKER PRO and TRACKER STD
- Measuring and connection accessories
- Charging equipment and transport
The SPRINGBOK range
The two TRACKERs cover prelocation from the service connection to the longer network route: pulse into the cable, read the echo, read off the distance. Add measuring and connection accessories, charging equipment and transport cases. Which TRACKER fits your cables depends on lengths and cable types – exactly what the advisory conversation before the order settles.
What these instruments are used for
At the beginning of every cable fault search stands prelocation: the measurement of the distance at which the fault lies in the cable. Time domain reflectometers determine this distance from the measuring point; the transit time of the reflected pulse yields the distance to the fault. The reading is available before excavation starts and narrows down the digging spot. The TRACKER PRO and the TRACKER STD are designed for exactly this measurement.
Introduction and training
Every instrument bought from us comes with an introduction – at the instrument, on real cables, not on the brochure. Whoever wants to go deeper gets training in TDR measurement: reading pulse shapes, interpreting echoes, telling faults from joints.
Service, repair and calibration
Service and repair run through the group’s workshop service with a direct line to the manufacturer. You register the instrument, send it in and receive findings and costs first, then the work.
Frequently asked questions
Is a TDR enough to fix the digging spot?
No – the TDR delivers the distance, not the point. The excavation needs pinpointing at the surface. As a prelocation instrument, though, the TDR shortens every search considerably because it narrows down the section.
Which cables is the measurement suitable for?
For metallic cores of every kind: power, control, telephone and coaxial cables. The limit is fibre optics – glass fibre needs different technology.
What distinguishes TRACKER PRO and TRACKER STD?
Range, resolution and equipment. Which one fits your links is settled on the phone from your cable lengths and types, before you order.
